Fire Hydrant- 1-1/2 inch with Brass Cap

It's great to have stored water, but you need to deliver water to where it is needed in a hurry. A reliable system includes underground piping (usually 2-3 inch schedule 40 pvc) from your storage to pump, then from pump to your desired locations.  

We rely on 1-1/2 inch vertical fire hydrants to quickly connect a fire hose and deploy exterior sprinklers in a hurry.  These all-brass hydrants offer 1-1/2 inch female pipe thread connection to mount directly to a vertical 1-1/2 inch galvanized standpipe.  We recommend using a galvanized metal schedule 40 x 36 inch tall nipple, and adding a pvc ball valve to shut off and service the hydrant so you don't have to turn off the entire water supply.

The output side connects perfectly to our NH type fire hose connections (also a USA standard).

Placing a dedicated hydrant loop around your property eliminates long hose runs and offers you very rapid deployment of fire sprinklers or a fire hose to drench landscapes in a hurry.

We include a solid brass sealed cover to keep out the critters, and for life long performance.  Don't settle for plastic caps that break down in the sun after a couple years--we know because we tested them!

We have ordered standpipes 1-1/2 x 36 inch for this hydrant as they are expensive to purchase online. Expect delivery on Oct 1.

Mount the vertical pipe just below the hydrant to a sturdy 4x6 post using a galvanized two-screw clamp.  The hydrant valve should stick up above the post.  Install the shut off valve within a couple feet of the hydrant 6-inches below grade and use an irrigation valve box cover to protect it.  Bury your supply pipe at least 12 inches below grade for protection.

Don't use pvc pipe above grade!  You don't want a failure at the worst possible time during a fire.
